A virtually bang-free entry
This is my first post.
Most people would want to create a bang with their thoughts out on the blogsphere. Not me.
Violently free in thinking as I am, I hardly have the time or energy to think as much as it is necessary for regular bloggers do to get the blog readers’ eye dancing all over their pages.
Brief Overview :
Basically what will follow from now will be mindless ramblings, thoughts that could have appeared out of thin air or inspired by classic thinking akin to many past greats as Socrates. But mindless as they seem, I cannot ignore the fact that they are true and that even a few word of unpopular insight can leave people pondering over brightly raised points of logic.
Origins:
The word ‘Thinktank’ has been used by me because I wanted to highlight my association with political schizophrenia. For the uninitiated, this bears no relation whatsoever with the medical term, save for the analogue that my opinions at different points of time contrast with one another. Comparable to the not-so-popular game ‘turncoat’. It ’s a healthy state of mind to me. It leaves me free to think without creative boundaries.
Range:
My range of thoughts is interesting. It’s diverse as is the human mind. It could be the byproduct of being the listener to many ‘deviated from topic’ lectures. I’ve heard and read many of them. What could start as a talk on Indian culture, could touch up on foreign brand invasion and end up on immigration laws. It could be attributed to the only fact in the world that nothing we ‘know’ is truly defined and nothing we can ‘define’ is truly known.
Take kindness for instance. How would you define it? If you give a penniless homeless some money, are you kind? Conventional thinking says yes. But think about it this way : wouldn’t that make him more attuned to the prospect of begging , thus making him more dependent on others? Then what is kindness? If you taught him some working skills, will you be kind to him in a progression that will increase? Possibly. Earning becomes another ’society-acceptable’ option for him. But what about the other homeless people who could have had a little of those skills before him? What would they do now? Left jobless because of your so called ‘kindness’ to a homeless man, it seems that you have been ‘unkind’ to them. Should you teach them too? But then what about all those people who have gotten training in those very same skills by making an initial investment, possibly in monetary terms? You seem to have done wrong to them too….So, you see, nothing in this world is perfectly defined. Thats what makes life interesting. Uncertainty.
Influences:
Ask me of my influences in thought and I would invariably give you names like Jim Morrison. and Marilyn Manson. It’s not their stage persona that amazes or inspires me, it’s their poetry and violent thinking. Boundary less. It’s understood that it would take Jim a lot of arrogance to put forward his thoughts in such a vulgar way. That is what would primarily be on top of our minds. But doesn’t it also take a man of strong convictions to do the same? Someone who sees no point in putting up with the charade of life just to please people? Maybe this is what endeared people to him. and to Rock music as a whole. Unpredictability and non-definition. He was not really interested in what the people wanted. Never was. And interestingly, that’s just what the people were impressed with.
Marilyn Manson could be a modern persona of his. But, now with so many people airing their opinions, it’s become just another game where the most controversial opinion takes the limelight. People are attracted at the thought of something new and different. Something away from the leading pack. Something to think about when they’re not mulling over their otherwise mundane lives. It’s what made Hitler. It’s what made Mussolini. It’s what made Newton. It’s what made theists. And atheists. And it’s what brought distortion guitaring to the music scene. And put the man on the moon. And let’s you read my opinions through the Internet.
The Others:
What interests me is not just the controvesiality factor (no, that’s not a word). It’s an individual’s capacity to transform an otherwise inane point into a beautifully crafted piece of opinion. It doesn’t really matter if the opinion is borrowed. It could be that another person generations before had thought of the same thing. Maybe. But, damn, if you’re really interested in opening your mind, it really broadens your thoughts.
End Of the Beginning:
I leave you with a possibly famous quote/opinion of someone who I don’t remember….
By grinding flour for someone else, you not only soil your hands, you lose your energy and starve for the day.
Doesn’t seem that meaningful now, but I guess it was a take on life centuries ago…..by a controversially violent thinker………..
